Moscow fashion brand Outlaw is the winner of SHOWStudio's inaugural Fashion Film Awards.
The winner was announced and celebrated during an event held in London on 3 February.
Established in November 2000, SHOWStudio is fashion website dedicated to fashion film and moving image.
British photographer and SHOWStudio's founder Nick Knight said of the awards: "I've wanted to do a fashion film award for a long time. It's a new medium that needs support, encouragement and development."
Outlaw is a growing collective of avant-garde Russian creatives founded by Maksim Bashkaev and Di Minrakhmanova.
The brand, originally established as a fashion label, has expanded into a multi-disciplinary practice dedicated to fighting for creative and intellectual freedom and to celebrating the growing number of "Outlaws" who are challenging mainstream culture.
Their winning film -- directed by Ilya Petrov, styled by Ivan Novak and produced by Natalia Solovieva -- was shot in multiple public locations throughout Moscow. Due to filming restrictions, most of the scenes shot inside a Chinese wholesale market, the Moscow Conservatory and Planetarium were filmed undercover, sometimes only on iPhones to avoid being stopped by police.
In a statement, the creators of the film said: "The characters in the film at the same time seem to be disconnected from the surroundings but also they are very natural to the location where they appear. This controversial sense of the disconnection and the attachment of the 'outlaw people' to their life in Russia is very representative and authentic."
SHOWstudio's Nick Knight was joined by a panel of expert judges including: DIESEL artistic director Nicola Formichetti, fashion designer Gareth Pugh, film-maker Ruth Hogben, and creative maverick Daphne Guinness.
The winning team, Outlaw, won a cash prize of £10,000 to put towards their next fashion film, a fashion film tutorial session with Knight, RED Digital Cinema's latest professional camera RED Raven, a Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens and a trip to Australia where they will attend dedicated screenings of their winning works hosted by SHOWstudio's Fashion Film Awards partner QIC Global Real Estate.
